Bitwave is a rapidly expanding startup that specializes in software for businesses that use digital assets and crypto. Our platform provides the CFO stack to web 3 native companies, Including cryptocurrency accounting, tax tracking, bookkeeping, digital asset treasury management, crypto AR / AP tooling, and full DeFi support (lending pool, liquidity pools, NFTs, etc.)
We’re looking to hire a world-class Cloud FinOps Engineer to support our team by analyzing cloud spend, identifying potential cost savings, determining appropriate next steps, and increasing productivity. You will work closely across all relevant Bitwave teams to ensure that we are maintaining our cloud cost spend, maximizing our business benefits from third-party supplier arrangements and optimizing our relationships with vendors and partners.
- Collaborate with Engineering teams to implement cost optimization recommendations and best practices
- Provide expert knowledge of cloud cost optimization strategies (e.g. rightsizing, power scheduling)
- Monitor cloud spend day to day and prepare weekly & monthly reports for review of Cloud spend
- Implement and manage automated tools to help identify cost trends, anomalies, and track budget (actuals vs estimates)
- Implement frameworks, processes, and solutions to manage and optimize Cloud consumption, including creating financial and usage dashboards
- Set and track budgets as per business unit requirements, and ensure recommendations are filtered appropriately within the organization to ensure timely action is taken
- Collate, analyze and prioritize cloud optimization recommendations and calculate potential savings
- Monitor, negotiate and manage node and blockchain costs and implement frameworks, processes and solutions to optimize these costs
Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in a related field
- 5+ years of overall professional experience (progressive experience in a financial setting e.g. Financial Analyst, Business Analyst) and 2 or more years of relevant experience in cloud FinOps/cloud spend optimization, experience in sourcing of public cloud services including cloud sourcing strategy planning
- Interest in digital assets, decentralized finance, and cryptocurrencies
- Extensive experience in GCP
- Knowledge and understanding of Public Cloud pricing schemes
- Experience with cloud tools such as Cloudability, CloudHealth and GCP native tools
- Extensive experience in preparing and analyzing investment cases, including complex financial analysis to support major contract negotiations
- Experience with native and 3rd party Public Cloud cost management & advisory tools (Ternary, GCP Billing, GCP big query, big query, GCP Recommender)
- Ability to work independently with strong attention to details and accuracy
- Excellent stakeholder management and partnership skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; superior written/verbal communications skills
